Hideki Yoshimoto

 2017 Rise focuses on the organic shapes of water bubbles and the refraction of light. Yoshimoto challenged the complex way light transmits and reflects inside differ- ent materials, resulting in a mesmerising visual effect.
Yoshimoto’s piece seeks to capture a dynamic moment in time and nature: it is reminiscent of air rising through the water, suggesting the possibilities of life below; a presence that we cannot see but that we are inspired to imagine. The resulting object is more than a simple floor light, becoming a statement of purity and beauty.
